July2006: Dreaded Double-Knit Understitch

I'm going to kick his ass.

frank: (sarcastically) Oh, no...the dreaded double-knit understitch!

August2005: Not Ready

I really don't want to go to work this morning. I would really like to take a shower and spend the first part of my day doing a bit of programming or knitting, or even baking (again). I'm just not ready to go back to work for another six days. Blah. I am working, again, this Saturday, but I am covering the North store with Samantha, so it should be fun...like old times.

September2004: Sleep, Work & No Play

This past week has been, without a doubt, the longest week of my life. I worked more than eight hours each day Monday through Saturday, working two fourteen-hour days twice this week. As soon as I got home I practically crawled into bed and fell asleep. One night this past week, however, I didn't even make it to bed before I fell asleep. This isn't going to happen again, unless the sky begins to fall. I am no longer scheduled to be at the front counter and there is plenty of staff to keep up with the busy work. So, I'll hopefully return to some sort of a normal life outside of work.

On another note, I played around with my knitting machine, again, but for the first time in what seems to be weeks. I even had time to pick up the needles and work a bit on my rainbow afghan that I started knitting back in the spring. Hopefully, I'll have it done by the end of the year. LOL.

September2004: I Give Up

I'm not cut out to knit sweaters. I majorly fncked up when trying to do the collar edge of the child-size sweater that I was practicing with. I dropped all of the stitches. It wouldn't knit properly. It was too thick. I give up. I'm going to stick with non-wearable items. *folds arms*

September2004: The Past Few Days

*needs to post more*

Since my life is fairly boring and uneventful, I really don't have too much to post about, but let's start with this past Sunday.

I had a great time out at Players, like I usually do. In fact, the pre-gaming at Tom's house was just as fabulous. I made myself a nice knitted hemp bracelet to sport on my wrist and my roommate, Danny, asked if I would make one for him. Of course, I did. At the pre-game, my other roommate, Justin, asked me if I could knit him one, too. Each of us now sports a knitted hemp bracelet and we've worn them daily since Sunday evening. Power to the roommates! Wooo...

Monday, monday...where do I start? It was one fncking long day at work. We were busier than we have been in a long time (it's that time of year again) and I closed for the last two hours alone. I was at work until 9:30pm and I didn't finish everything. Samantha said that she would come in at 6:00am the next morning and finish for me. She did and I'm thankful, but I really wish she wouldn't have had to. C'est la vie. :o\

Today wasn't a bad day. In fact, today was a rather decent day. I did next week's schedules last night while watching the Sunday Night Sex Show with Sue. We weren't terribly busy and I got to work with Margie some more. She is so fun. I love her. We ordered food from the Penn State Sub Shop and had a great time just talking the night away and we even got to leave on time!

Oh, and I got my row counter for my knitting machine this morning. Sue, one of the ladies at work, brought me a 50% off coupon for Michaels and I took advantage of that and purchased the row counter prior to going to work. Now I can knit away on my knitting machine and not have to worry about keeping count of the rows as I knit. What will they think of next?

September2004: What Kind Of Knitting Needles Are You?

You are interchangeable. Fun, free, and into everything, you've got every eventuality covered and every opportunity just has to be taken. Every fiber is wonderful, and every day is a new beginning. You are good at so many things, it's amazing, but you can easily lose your place and forget to show up. They have row counters for people like you!

August2004: More Hats

I bought two more skeins of Bernat Cottontots yarn yesterday at Wal-Mart because I am going to make two more baby hats. I don't have patterns, but I am going to do my best without them. I want to make another rolled-brim hat, but this time with an I-cord at the top which can be tied into a knot or a bow. I would also like to make a hat with a fishman's hat type of brim and more of a lace feel to it with patterned holes throughout. But, that may take some pattern writing, which I think I can accomplish. I just need to get some more double point needles and nobody in this stupid town seems to sell them. Argh.

August2004: Knit 0

I didn't knit a single stitch yesterday. While it was a decent day, and like usual, I was fairly beat when I got home. I'm slacking. I need motivation...

August2004: Hat, Lifetime & The Girls

I finished the hat last night, but I didn't feel like making another post before I went to bed. It's really cute. A lot cuter than the first. I will definitely have to post some pictures tonight, if I get the chance. Now I guess it is time for me to continue working on the baby hoodie cardigan that I started last week.

In other news, nothing real exciting has happened in my life lately. Basically, I work, come home, knit, sleep and repeat the entire process. Last night, however, my roommate, Danny, and I watched a couple Lifetime movies and a couple episodes of Golden Girls. It was nice to be able to relax with company, rather than alone in my bedroom watching a movie. If only the vast majority of my friends hadn't moved away...

August2004: Knit-in-the-Round 2

I recently started my second knit-in-the-round project. It is another baby hat. This time, however, it is knit without a pattern and we'll see how that turns out. I still have to post a picture of my first knit-in-the-round project, but I think I am going to do that after I finish this project. This hat is much much cuter than the first. It is a very clean stockinette stitch with a rolled brim/edge. And, it is very easy to knit. I could knit tons of these things!

August2004: It's A Hat!

I did it. I completed my first knit-in-the-round project last night. I was knitting a spiral rib baby hat and it is so cute. I even washed it last night and some of the laddering problems that I was having has all been fixed by the washer. This is great. I am so excited. It was a really quick project to knit, too. :o)

August2004: Knit-in-the-Round 1

I started my first knit-in-the-round project yesterday. I am using size US6 double point needles with a nice soft 100% cotton, Bernat Cotton Tots to knit an infant/baby hat. It's going rather well, except that it was rather difficult to get the swing of knitting with four needles at a time. Yes, four double point needles (eight points)! Oy vei. Hopefully, when it is complete, I will post a picture of it (if it turns out decent).

August2004: K1, *(P2TOG) 3 times, (YO, K1) 5 times, YO, (P2TOG) 3 times; rep from * across, end K1.

Blah. It never seems like I am getting anywhere on this darn blanket. I have been knitting it for quite some time now...several months, I think. It takes a really long time to knit an adult-sized blanket, which is larger than an afghan. I have knit three baby blankets, which are time consuming. But, they aren't as time consuming as this stupid blanket is. Hopefully, it will pay off in the end when it is finished...several months from now.

August2004: Knit Happens

I almost forgot! I got a new book on Sunday. It is called Stitch 'N Bitch: The Knitters Handbook. I absolutely love this book. I haven't read it all of the way through, yet. But, it is such a great book. It's got everything anyone would need to know about knitting plus it's a younger and fresher look at knitting. Yes, yes, I know lots of you call me knitter and I guess I am okay with that; I do knit, after all, and I'm not ashamed of it. Anyway, this book is probably the most thoughtful gift that anybody has ever given me. Thank you. *hug*

November2003: Sunday Cleaning

It is Sunday and I told myself this past week that I was going to clean this weekend. So far this morning I have vacuumed the entire apartment, with the exception of my roommates' bedrooms. I have cleaned most of the kitchen and the bathroom. The next thing that I need to clean is the shower. I think that there may be some little pink monsters living in our shower and they definitely need to be taken care of as soon as possible. It's getting on the disgusting side of the fence.

I'm just about done with the baby blanket that I started quite some time ago. I should have that finished today and then I can work more on either Sami's hat or my mother's throw. Hopefully there is a good movie on today so I can relax, knit and watch it. Although, it is an absolute beautiful day outside and this may be the last beautiful day of the year. I should go outside and do something. But, the question is what should I do?

November2003: First November Post

Wow, I really haven't posted in quite some time - my apologies.

Where do I start? I have been knitting a lot lately. I am nearing the end of my first baby blanket, although I already had one started and then ran into some trouble (it is now fixed and waiting to be finished). I am making my mother a really nice afghan/throw for Christmas. Hopefully, she will like it.

Dusty and I have been having our ups and downs. I think we are getting along much better now. We had a really huge fight this past Saturday. And then, last night we had another fight. :o\

September2003: Trading Spaces: They Hated It

My first scarf is almost done! I still have to put on the fringes/tassels on the ends, but other than that it is done. I have started a new scarf and I will post a picture of it soon.

I'm watching Trading Spaces: They Hated It as I write this and it isn't quite what I expected. I was hoping that it would be more of a documentary style show where they covered a lot of shows where the home owners hated their rooms. However, it is just three separate shows with a very short interview with the homeowners and the designer at the end. The best part of each episode is when the homeowner(s) flip out over their new room. C'est la vie.

September2003: Trading Scarves

My scarf is coming along great. I am working on the 9th stripe as I write this. I plan to have at least 13 stripes in total (beginning and ending with wheat) and very long wood fringes at each end. Hopefully after this weekend is over, I will have a completely (or near-completed) scarf. Wish me luck.

On another note, I am totally psyched about the $100,000 episode of Trading Spaces on October 5th. It airs at 8pm and is a 2-hour episode. Make sure you watch it!
